Kids for Cancer

This year, a little boy (7 years old) that plays on Mekonnen's hockey team - was diagnosed in Dec with Bone Cancer. He has been going through treatments and has lost all his hair. This week - as a fund raiser for the family - some of the kids in the league raised money and then had their hair shaved off. Here are some pictures of Mekonnen participating.

The first after photo. For some reason the people shaving left the guards on the razor - so it was more like a short hair cut, as opposed to it being 'shaved off'.




However, it kind of defeated the purpose of the whole event...so later at home Mekonnen had Dad finish the job...here is the final after photos.

Now, Tenaye sees Mekonnen getting his hair cut frequenlty -as his hair does grow fast and Dad cuts it at home. So she has long been obsessed with getting her hair cut. But her hair grows soooo slowly that she has never had/needed a hair cut. (Other than the day she cut her own hair....!! Have I told you about that? If not ask me about it - I think I can talk about it without crying now LOL!)

Anyway, after Bill finished shaving Mekonnens hair - Tenaye wanted a hair cut. So up in the chair she went, hair cutting cape on, Bill just turned the clippers on and then just held the handle of the clippers to her head in a few places so she could feel it vibrate, but he didn't actually cut anything. She is sooo proud of her new hair cut :) And, of course, she then wanted the same pictures taken of her hair cut that we took of Mekonnen's hair cut. I did not tell her how to pose...these are her own poses!
